Directions

  1. Cook and stir onion in margarine and oil in 10-inch skillet until tender.
  2. Stir in broth, 1/4 cup almonds, the ground red chiles, vinegar, sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Heat to boiling; reduce heat.
  4. Simmer uncovered for 10 minutes.
  5. Spoon mixture into blender container; cover and blend on low speed until smooth, about 1 minute.
  6. Return sauce to skillet.
  7. Dip chicken breasts into sauce to coat both sides.
  8. Place skin sides up in single layer in skillet.
  9. Heat to boiling; reduce heat.
  10. Cover and simmer until done, about 45 minutes.
  11. Serve sauce over chicken; garnish with slivered almonds.
